الملخص (بالإنجليزية): In this paper the authors have evaluated the transmission coefficient of electrons across a negatively charged plane metallic surface on the basis of a three region model for variation of the potential energy of an electron near the surface, which incorporates a field free region, in contrast to usual two region model. It is seen that the old two region model significantly overestimates the transmission coefficient and consequently electron emission current. An additional mechanism (other than Schottky and electric field emission) for enhancement of electron emission by a negative charge on the plane surface of the metal has also been analyzed. Abstract (French): Nous évaluons ici le coefficient de transmission des électrons à travers une surface métallique plane chargée négativement, en utilisant un modèle à trois régions pour les variations de l'énergie potentielle près de la surface. Ce modèle incorpore une région sans champ, en contraste avec le modèle à deux régions. Nous trouvons que l'ancien modèle à deux régions surestime significativement le coefficient de transmission et, par conséquent, le courant d'émission électronique. Nous avons aussi analysé un mécanisme additionnel (autre que l'effet Schottky et l'émission par effet de champ) pour augmenter l'émission électronique par les charges négatives sur la surface plane du métal.
