In some linguistic contexts the need for an institutional intervention in the language is needed in order to ensure that terminological resources are available and, therefore, that language can be used in any specialized communication context. However, these resources do not prove as successful as one might hope, hence the importance of monitoring the actual use of official terminology. This highlights the degree of success and failure of terminological units, collects the guidelines and criteria to be considered to establish terminology standards and ensures the success of the official terms in use. Dans certains contextes linguistiques, une intervention institutionnelle apparaît nécessaire pour garantir que la langue dispose de ressources terminologiques et, dès lors, qu'elle puisse être utilisée dans n'importe quel contexte de communication spécialisée. Cependant, ces ressources ne s'avèrent pas aussi efficaces que ce que l'on pourrait espérer. D'où l'importance d'un suivi de l'usage réel de la terminologie officielle, qui mettrait en évidence les degrés de succès et d'échec des unités terminologiques, recueillerait les lignes directrices et les critères à considérer pour établir la norme terminologique et enfin assurer le succès des termes officiels dans l'usage.
