This article examines the DiGeorge syndrome and discusses the pharyngeal apparatus development. DiGeorge syndrome is the most frequent microdeletion syndrome in humans. It is characterized by cardiovascular, craniofacial, thymic and parathyroid anomalies. The disturbed formation of the pharyngeal apparatus is the underlying cause of the syndrome. |
