The article analyzes photographs from the May 1, 2011 U.S. raid against terrorist organization Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, discussing the stealth enhancements to rotorcraft exposed during the raid. The article speculates that a modified Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk transport helicopter was used by Navy Seals in addition to two Boeing HH-47 Chinook helicopters. The upgrades include changes to the tail-rotor hub fairings, an infrared suppression finish, and other aerodynamic modifications. |
