The authors discuss the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis (OA), and focus on the increasing utilization of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in younger patients. They highlight a study by Leskinen and colleagues, which examined the utilization of unicondylar implants, and questions the effectiveness of TKA in individuals of less than 60 years of age. The authors mention the Finnish Arthroplasty Registry, and suggest that further research is required on the outcomes of TKA in the younger population. |
