مستخلص: The article presents the author's view on the attention received by motor control in psychological research. Motor control has been neglected and has received short shrift in psychology. According to the author, it is ironic that motor control has long had the status of a Cinderella in psychological research. He has given seven hypotheses for psychology's neglect of motor control. The major question in psychology is how do behaviors originate. The question can be approached by recalling what happened when Cinderella left the prince's ball. Motor control is not the only topic that has received less attention by psychologists. This is not because psychologists fail to appreciate that there is a response system. The author believes that it will be a mistake to say that there is a motor system distinct from a perceptual, a cognitive, or an emotional system. He is apprehensive that advances in technology will make new research possible, but those advances are unlikely to benefit motor control in particular.
