Résumé Le retard au diagnostic constitue un des facteurs de risque de survenue des accès palustres graves. La mise en œuvre de techniques rapides, sensibles et spécifiques est nécessaire. Des renseignements cliniques et épidémiologiques doivent accompagner toute prescription afin d’aider le biologiste dans son interprétation. Le diagnostic conditionne l’ensemble de la stratégie thérapeutique. Summary Delay in diagnosis constitutes one of the risk factors of the occurrence of severe malaria. The implementation of rapid, sensitive and specific techniques is essential. Clinical and epidemiological information must accompany any prescriptions in order to help the biologists in their interpretation. Diagnosis determines the whole of the therapeutic strategy.
