مستخلص: The article presents a study to test the hypothesis that habitats deemed of minor value for bat foraging like cliffs, may become important in resource-limited systems like islands. The study involved an acoustic survey of bats in Capri, Italy and compared their use of Mediterranean shrubland and limestone cliffs. It finds that four of the five bat species tested preferred coastal cliffs for foraging, even by the barbastelle bat, Barbastella barbastellus, normally regarded a forest specialist.
