مستخلص: The article investigates several factors which impact a firm's likelihood to resist engaging in corruption by interviewing senior executives of companies in India. The article states that the professionalization of an industry and the social capital available for use by a firm both impact the likelihood of whether or not a firm will engage in corrupt transactions, and that corruption is perceived as an institution in India by both domestic and foreign firms. The article states that executives in India have a strong negative opinion of government corruption in their home country, but that the general tendency across industries is to actively engage in corrupt transactions. The article found that a decoupling occurred between stated opinion and actual behavior.
