The article cites some of the typical problems in creating a direct-mail campaign. One of the most common errors occurs in the insertion process. This occurs because lettershops typically are processing many mailings simultaneously. Miscalculating postage expense due to weight or size of the piece is an expensive error and can cost perhaps 40 percent or more over what had been budgeted. List specifications can be complex, and a lettershop processing the list cannot tell if it is the right one simply by looking at the names on it. |
