| الوصف: | The consultation of most medical specialties is full of patients who present a series of symptoms that, since the time of Charcot, are labelled as functional disorders or functional somatic syndrome. The neurosciences are called to occupy a basic space in the training of all professionals and to be the basis of the psychosomatic medicine of the present and even more of the future, since the more we know of psychophysiology the less “functional” the disorders are. The concept of central sensitization that was born in the eighties and early nineties is behind a lot of disorders and pathologies that we see every day. We are still in a dark room, but we are not blind anymore. We begin to see that these extremely complex pathologies, which represent a very important percentage of the patients we see every day, have a fundamental psychophysiological basis that justifies the severity of the symptoms, the diversity of affected organs and systems and, unfortunately, the modest response to our current treatments. La consulta de la mayoría de las especialidades médicas está llena de pacientes que presentan una serie de síntomas, que desde los tiempos de Charcot, se etiquetan como trastornos funcionales. Las neurociencias están llamadas a ocupar un espacio básico en la formación de todos los profesionales y ser la base de la medicina psicosomática del presente y más aún del futuro, ya que cuanto más sabemos de psicofisiología menos “funcionales” son los trastornos. El concepto de sensibilización central que naciera en los ochenta y principios de los noventa está detrás de cantidad de trastornos y patologías que vemos cada día. Seguimos en una habitación a oscuras, pero ya no estamos ciegos. Comenzamos a vislumbrar que estas patologías extremadamente complejas y que representan un importantísimo porcentaje de los pacientes que vemos cada día, tienen una base psicofisiológica fundamental que justifica la severidad de los síntomas, la diversidad de órganos y sistemas afectados y desgraciadamente, la modesta respuesta a nuestros tratamientos actuales. |
