The article compares asset based lending (ABL) in Great Britain and the U.S. and discusses the potential for growth of the cross border ABL market in Europe. The structure of the British banking market and the absence of a single framework for insolvency law in Europe has prevented the ABL market to be at par with the large, established U.S. sector. Although the size of the British ABL market will never reach that of the U.S., there exists potential for a large European market which is being limited by small sizes of deals. |
