Although meetings with colleagues are useful, the average anaesthetist only rarely participates and discussion is usually focused on relevant "hot topics" rather than everyday clinical practice. In this context, trainees might be a powerful tool; anaesthetic trainees usually rotate among different specialties and different hospitals, learning many different techniques and strategies to manage patients peri-operatively.
