A study conducted by Umea University in Sweden examined the 10-year mortality, causes of death, and cardiovascular comorbidities in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH). The study included 176 iNPH patients and 368 age- and sex-matched controls. The results showed that iNPH patients had a higher risk of death compared to controls, with cardiovascular diseases being the most common cause of death. The study suggests that reducing cardiovascular comorbidities and preventing falls could help improve the life expectancy of iNPH patients. [Extracted from the article] |
