    الوصف: 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy of both fumonisin B 3 and B4, as well as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of samples of fumonisin B3 used as standards, showed in each case the presence of two stereoisomers, which could not be separated by preparative chromatography. The 2,3-anti relative configuration for the two minor stereoisomers of fumonisin B3 and B4 was deduced from the NMR data, and their 2S,3R absolute configurations were established by application of Mosher's method using the fumonisin B3 sample. Samples of fumonisin B3 and B 4 can contain between 10 and 40% of fumonisin B compounds of the 3-epi series. The 3-epi-FB3, determined by HPLC with fluorescence detection of the o-phthaldialdehyde derivative and confirmed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, was found to occur naturally in a range of maize samples at levels much lower than FB3 (<20%). The identification of members of the 3-epi-fumonisin B series provides insight into the order and selectivity of steps in fumonisin biosynthesis. © 2007 American Chemical Society. ; Article

    الوصف: Maize presents a substantial contamination by fumonisins (FB) throughout the world. In particular, Argentina presents a high frequency of positive samples and levels of up to 10,000 μg/kg of total FB, depending on the harvest campaign studied. Corn puff, an extruded product of high consumption among children and adolescent populations, was analyzed with the aim of determining the presence and levels of fumonisins B1, B2 and B3. In the present study, 20 samples of different brands were collected from commercial stores. Two solvent systems, two types of agitation, and the number of extractions were tested in order to find the most suitable method to establish the level of fumonisins in corn puff. Extracts were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection. A C18 column and precolumn derivatization with orthophtalaldialdehyde were utilized. The average of fumonisins found in 20 samples was 257.5 μg/kg (n∈=∈19), 70.4 μg/kg (n∈∈=∈14) and 73.3 μg/kg (n∈∈=∈6) for FB1, FB2 and FB3, on positive samples, respectively. These are the first analyses in Argentina of this type of product, highlighting the need to continue the studies in the processing industries because, despite the extrusion process that the raw material suffers, a sample was found with a contamination of 1,649 μg/kg total fumonisins. © 2010 Society for Mycotoxin Research and Springer. ; Fil:Funes, G.J.     الوصف: Alternaria alternata, A. tenuissima, Fusarium graminearum, F. semitectum, F. verticillioides, Aspergillus flavus, and Aspergillus section Nigri strains obtained from blueberries during the 2009 and 2010 harvest season from Entre Ríos, Argentina were analyzed to determine their mycotoxigenic potential. Taxonomy status at the specific level was determined both on morphological and molecular grounds. Alternariol (AOH), alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), aflatoxins (AFs), zearalenone (ZEA), fumonisins (FBs), and ochratoxin A (OTA) were analyzed by HPLC and the trichotecenes deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV), HT-2 toxin (HT-2), T-2 toxin (T-2), fusarenone X (FUS-X), 3-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (3-AcDON), and 15-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (15-AcDON) by GC. Twenty-five out of forty two strains were able to produce some of the mycotoxins analyzed. Fifteen strains of Aspergillus section Nigri were capable of producing Fumonisin B1 (FB1); two of them also produced Fumonisin B2 (FB2) and one Fumonisin B3 (FB3). One of the F. graminearum isolated produced ZEA, HT-2, and T-2 and the other one was capable of producing ZEA and DON. Two A. alternata isolates produced AOH and AME. Four A. tenuissima were capable of producing AOH and three of them produced AME as well. One Aspergillu flavus strain produced aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), aflatoxin B2 (AFB2), and aflatoxin G1 (AFG1).     الوصف: Corn samples collected from the main production area in Argentina in 1995 were surveyed for the natural occurrence of Fusarium mycotoxins and aflatoxins. Fumonisins B 1, B 2 and B 3 and zearalenone were found in all samples. A positive relationship was found between fumonisins B 1, B 2 and B 3, B 1 and B 3, and B 2 and B 3. Deoxynivalenol and aflatoxins were not detected. Mycological survey has also revealed the predominance of Fusarium moniliforme.
