مستخلص: This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, presents a systematic review and meta-analysis of bowel preparation strategies for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients undergoing colonoscopy. The study compares various types of bowel preparations, including high or low volume PEG-based options and recently available non-PEG sulphate-based options. The results show that low-volume PEG with additives is comparably successful to high-volume PEG, with increased willingness to repeat. Additionally, non-PEG-based preparations are found to have similar success rates to PEG-based preparations. The findings suggest that both low-volume PEG-based and non-PEG-based preparations are viable options for IBD patients, expanding choices beyond current guidelines. [Extracted from the article]
