مستخلص: |
• Malathion is cytotoxic and genotoxic to human lymphocytes. • Malathion induces oxidative stress in human lymphocytes. • Malathion cause oxidative DNA damage. • Oxidative free radicals generated by malathion damage the pyrimidine bases. • Ethyl methane sulfonate generated oxidative free radicals damage the purine bases. Applying the single-cell gel electrophoresis (comet) assay, we show that the widely used organophosphorus pesticide malathion is cytotoxic, genotoxic, and induces oxidative stress in human lymphocytes.
