This article provides information on several sensors and transducers. Meanwhile, the one-fourth inch condenser microphone from PCB Piezotronics Inc. measures sound-pressure levels up to 192 dB re 20 &nmicro;Pa and has a flat pressure-frequency response from 10 Hz to 20 kHz. It operates from a 200V power supply. The micro temperature probes from Selco Products Co. provide resistance values of 10Ω and 2252Ω at 25 degrees Centigrade. Small-form-factor thermistors have diameters down to 0.0185 inches and can fit into a thin hypodermic needle. The 1/1.8-inch CMOS direct image sensor from Foveon Inc. uses a stacked-pixel design that eliminates the need for color interpolation and blur filters. It also groups neighboring pixels to form larger pixels for high frame-rate, reduced-noise, and dual mode still/video applications. Wide range thermostats from Selco Products offer an operating-temperature range from room temperature to 5I8 degrees Fahrenheit. These thermostats come factory-calibrated to user specifications with fixed or adjustable settings. The fingerprint sensor from AuthenTec Inc. acts as both an authenticator and graphical navigation tool in mobile phones. It does not exceed the 5% ventral processing unit load threshold and needs no companion chip. |
