The article presents a case study of a 28 year old pregnant woman with abdominal cramps and fever. Her heart rate monitoring showed persistent fetal tachycardia with late decelerations, thus resulting in a cesarean section and a baby boy was delivered. The results of a blood culture showed listeria monocytogenes. It was concluded that listeria infection is more common in pregnant women than in nonpregnant women, and may present with fever or flu-like symptoms. |
