الوصف: In the absence of critical, raced, and historically grounded understandings of Asian American trauma, Asian American grief is read through the lens of dominant White society’s constructed, controlling images. These controlling images render racist violence illegible and locate the responsibility and blame for trauma in Asian American individuals and communities. Attempts to address Asian American mental health and suicide that lack understanding of the violence White supremacy perpetrates on Asian Americans invisibilize and maintain White supremacy, risk retraumatizing Asian Americans, and limit avenues of healing and changing the structures that result in violence against Asian Americans in the first place.
