L’Académie des Humoristes fondée à Rome autour du 1600 et éteinte après 1717 est l’une des institutions les plus intéressantes de son temps, pas encore fait l’objet d’une enquête systématique. Les Humoristes se situent au centre du réseau des académies romaines et italiennes du Seicento en vertu de leur centralité dans la ville du pape et de leur caractéristique d’être un miroir de la Cour de Rome, arrivant à constituer un cas emblématique du rapport entre savoir et pouvoir au XVIIe siècle. Néanmoins, en vertu de cette condition privilégiée, les Humoristes jouirent d’une liberté singulière, la même qu’ils encourageaient à leur sein, se qualifiant comme une version apprivoisée du libertinage érudit en Italie qui ne prétendait absolument pas à rompre avec l’Église. ; The Academy of Humorists founded in Rome in 1600 and extinct after 1717 is one of the most interesting institutions of its time, not yet systematically investigated. The Humorists animate the network of Roman and Italian academies of the Seicento by virtue of their centrality in the city of the pope and their being a mirror of the Court of Rome; thus, they represent an emblematic case of the relationship between knowledge and power in the 17th century. |
