| الوصف: | The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of functional dependency in elderly people with Diabetes Mellitus 2. For this purpose, a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study was carried out. The sample consisted of 175 elderly people diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus 2. The survey was used as a technique and the Barthel Index (BI) for basic activities of daily life (BADL) was used as an instrument. Among the results, it was found that from 100% of the elderly population, 36% were independent, 63% had some degree of mild to severe dependency and only 1% had total dependency, according to age for BADL. The group with the highest dependency with 100% is the one with 80 years of age and over, with respect to sex, the most dependent group was women with 64%. The study concluded that mild dependency predominates, it is more frequent in women, and there is a greater level of dependency in elderly people over 80 years of age. ; El presente estudio tiene como finalidad determinar el grado de dependencia funcional en adultos mayores con Diabetes Mellitus 2. Para esto se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, cuantitativo y de corte transversal. La muestra se conformó por 175 ancianos con diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus 2. Como técnica se utilizó la encuesta y como instrumento el Índice de Barthel (IB) para actividades básicas de la vida diaria (ABVD). Entre los resultados se encontró que del 100% de la población adulta mayor, el 36% es independiente, el 63% tiene algún grado de dependencia leve a grave y solo el 1% padece dependencia total, según edad para ABVD; el grupo que más dependencia presenta con 100% es el que tiene 80 años a más, respecto al sexo el más dependiente es el femenino con 64%. El estudio concluye que: predomina la dependencia leve, es más frecuente en mujeres, y hay mayor nivel de dependencia en ancianos mayores de 80 años. |
