الوصف: The most often mentioned individual differences affecting success in foreign language learning are: age, intelligence, motivation, language aptitude, knowledge of other languages, learning strategies, learning styles and personality. In this paper personality and learning styles will be described, but the main focus will be extroversion and introversion, perceptual learning styles, their main characteristics and their relationship with language learning success. A number of studies have been conducted in order to explore the relationship between extroversion/introversion and language learning success. It has often been hypothesized that extroverts are better language learners than the introverts, that they participate more in classroom activities and have better speaking skills. However, that theory has not always been proven. The results have often been diverse and contradictory. The researchers have also concluded that there are no disadvantaged personality types. Introverts have also their advantages as learners and language learning success cannot be determined by one personality trait or learning style only. There are also no absolutely wrong or right learning styles. The researchers also agree that more successful learners do not depend completely on one learning style only, but take advantages of more learning styles, so that they always have an alternative. In this paper a research conducted with 7th and 8th graders of primary school will also be described. The aim was to determine the relationship between extroversion/introversion, perceptual learning styles (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) and success in learning English as a foreign language.
