Foram realizados dois estudos de validação de uma versão portuguesa da GDS-15 e das suas versões reduzidas de 10, 5 e 4 itens. Testaram-se estruturas fatoriais alternativas da GDS-15 através da Análise Fatorial Confirmatória, examinando as suas propriedades psicométricas. Isto, com 1,432 adultos mais velhos comunitários sem compromisso cognitivo. Posteriormente, com a melhor versão da prova, a bifatorial hierárquica de 10 itens, com a Depressão a subsumir Afeto Depressivo Geral e Satisfação com a Vida, testou-se um modelo MIMIC contemplando preditores sociodemográficos da Depressão. Apresentaram-se percentis com o somatório dos 10 itens para adultos na terceira idade e na quarta idade com e sem parceiro. Posteriormente compararam-se versões de 10, 5 e 4 itens, e a de 4 itens foi a melhor. A utilização dos pontos de corte encontrados para os 10 itens conjuntamente com os resultados destes quatro torna mais preciso o rastreio de depressão em adultos mais velhos; Studies on the short versions of the Geriatric Depression Scale Abstract: Two validation studies were performed on a Portuguese version of the GDS-15 and its short versions of 10, 5, and 4 items with a sample of 1,432 community-dwelling older adults without cognitive impairment. The testing of alternative factor structures of the GDS-15 through Confirmatory Factor Analysis and its psychometric properties resulted in a hierarchical bifactorial structure of 10 items, with the Depression factor subsuming the General Depressive Affect and Life Satisfaction factors. With this structure was tested a MIMIC model contemplating sociodemographic predictors of depression, and percentiles from the sum of the 10 items for married and single older adults in the third and fourth age. Subsequently, comparing the 10, 5, and 4-items versions, the 4-items version was the best. The use of cutoff points for the ten items, jointly with the indicated four items, makes screening for depression in the older adults more accurate. |
