الوصف: The genus Grimmia Hedw. has been considered taxonomically difficult because of its great morphological variability, and its treatments by different specialists have led to incongruent results. One of the debates in the genus is the species status of Grimmia limprichtii Kern, an Asian-European disjunct moss species that has been considered identical to Grimmia anodon Bruch & Schimp. or Grimmia tergestina Tomm ex Bruch & Schimp. It has also been regarded as the muticous-leaved male plants of G. tergestina. Based on a detailed analysis of the type and many non-type specimens combining the molecular and morphological data, the reinstatement of species rank for G. limprichtii is proposed. The diagnostic characteristics of G. limprichtii and its distinction from some closely related species, with which it may be confused, are discussed. Grimmia obtusifolia C. Gao & T. Cao is considered a synonym of G. limprichtii based on molecular and morphological data.

الوصف: The monotypical orphnine genus Stenosternus Karsch is known from a single specimen of S. costatus collected on the São Tomé island (Gulf of Guinea). The holotype of S. costatus Karsch is re-examined and its characters are discussed and illustrated. Although the genus was implicitly placed by Paulian (1984) in the Old World tribe Orphnini Erichson, re-examination of the holotype of S. costatus shows that it has characters similar to those of the members of the New World tribe Aegidiini Paulian. Placement of Stenosternus in the Aegidiini is supported by the metepisternum widened posteriorly (forming posterior metepisternal lock for closed elytra) and a keel separating basal and anterolateral parts of propleurae. Relationships of Stenosternus with other orphnine taxa and possible ways of origin of São Toméan orphnine fauna are discussed.

الوصف: The paper reports Eutrema salsugineum as a novelty to the flora of Mexico and Middle America in general. The finding stands ca. 1600 km apart from the closest known locality in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA. The species is considered native to NW Mexico and its late discovery in the region is presumably explained by its tiny habit, early flowering time, and subephemeral life cycle. The phylogenetic position of this Mexican population in a haplotype network based on the chloroplast DNA fragment psbA-trnH confirms this hypothesis and also suggests, in contrast to the previously held viewpoint, multiple colonizations of North American continent from Asia.

الوصف: Thirteen fern species are reported for the first time for Brazil. Among the new records, eight are from Acre state (Cyathea subincisa, Cyclodium trianae, Elaphoglossum stenophyllum, Hypoderris brauniana, Pleopeltis stolzei, Thelypteris arcana, Thelypteris comosa, Thelypteris valdepilosa), two are from Pará state (Polypodium flagellare, Tectaria heracleifolia), one from Minas Gerais state (Alsophila salvinii), one from Ceará state (Campyloneurum costatum) and one from Bahia state (Thelypteris rolandii). Part of the species shows a disjunct occurrence or illustrates floristic relations between Brazilian and Andean Mountains or Central American Mountains.
