الوصف: A long-term wave data record is available for climate studies, monitoring, and model validation. The hourly significant wave height data under tropical cyclones (TCs) are measured in the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Pacific Ocean from 1978 to 2013 (36 years). The data files are available in the ASCII data format and archived by the National Data Buoy Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Japan Meteorological Agency, and Central Weather Bureau. Global TC data with a 6-hour temporal resolution was acquired from best-track database from the National Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. The description and basic characteristics of these significant wave heights under all TC intensity levels are presented here. We have synthesized all the data into Matlab format. The data format is in order of year, month, day, hour, wind direction (degree), wind speed (m/s), significant wave height (meter), station's longitude (degree), station's latitude (degree), storm center's longitude (degree), storm center's latitude (degree), and storm's maximum wind speed (knot).
