الوصف: 根據衛福部資料顯示,全球罹患糖尿病的人數高達1.35億至1.6億。以美國、加拿大為例,糖尿病就位居該國十大死因的第三位,僅次於心血管疾病及癌症之後。在我國,根據衛福部的統計,2018年死於糖尿病的人口有9,374人,平均約每小時有1人死於糖尿病,居十大死因的第5位,此數據不含死於因糖尿病而併發其他血管疾病等。研究指出山苦瓜 (Momordica charantia L.) 中含有可活化PPARα與PPARγ之成分,藉由調控其下游基因之表現,進而改善高脂飲食誘導之體重增加、調節血糖及血脂等功效。本研究目的在探討山苦瓜萃取物對第二型糖尿病小鼠體重及血糖的影響。以雄性ICR品系小鼠為實驗動物,利用腹腔注射Nicotinamide (50 mg/kg BW) 以及Streptozotocin (STZ) (65 mg/kg BW) 的方式誘發實驗動物高血糖 (hyperglycemia)。實驗小鼠隨機分作五組,分別為:(1)正常對照組(n=7); (2) STZ誘發糖尿病組 (n=7) ; (3)STZ誘發糖尿病組合併口服山苦瓜萃取物一倍劑量 (BG-1X) (n=7) ; (4) STZ誘發糖尿病組合併口服山苦瓜萃取物兩倍劑量 (BG-2X) (n=7) ; (5) STZ誘發糖尿病組合併口服山苦瓜萃取物五倍劑量 (BG-5X) (n=7)。在成功誘導第2型糖尿病動物模式後,分別給予上述實驗處理並為期4週介入時間,飼養期間採自由攝食、飲水的方式,並且分析各組間之體重、攝食與飲水量、空腹血糖與葡萄糖耐受性。實驗結果顯示,給予4週山苦瓜萃取物能顯著降低糖尿病小鼠之飲水攝食量、空腹血糖以及葡萄糖耐受性(p<0.05)。綜合上述結果得知,山苦瓜萃取物能有改善並調控糖尿病高血糖,並且改善其糖尿病之症狀之潛力,在未來保健食品的開發應用上能作為配方應用之選擇,但在安全性的部分仍須進一步評估。 ; According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of people suffering from diabetes worldwide was as high as 135 million to 160 million. Taking the United States and Canada as examples, diabetes ranks third in the country ’s top ten causes of death, after cardiovascular disease and cancer. In Taiwan, diabetes caused the 9,374 people death, with an average of about 1 person dying of diabetes per hour, and ranked as the fifth among the top ten leading causes of death according to the statistics of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taiwan. Previous studies indicated that Momordica charantia L. contained functional ingredients which could activate PPARα and PPARγ, and further regulated the expression of its downstream genes for bioactivities including improvement of high-fat diet-induced obesity, blood glucose homeostasis and blood lipid regulation. The purposes of this study were to investigate the effect of Momordica charantia L extracts on the blood glucose metabolism in STZ-induced type 2 diabetic animal model.
