| الوصف: | Objective: To determine and evaluate the connection of patients with mental and behavioural disorder who consume alcohol to suicide attempt or the threat thereof and usage of mental health care services; to compare those patients to patients with other mental disorders. Aims: 1. To determine and evaluate the characteristics of patients with mental and behavioural disorders who consume alcohol in terms of age and sex. 2. To determine and evaluate the connection of patients with mental and behavioural disorder who consume alcohol to the need of psychiatric emergency assistance. 3. To determine and evaluate the connection of patients with mental and behavioural disorder who consume alcohol to a suicide attempt or the threat thereof. 4. To determine and evaluate the connection of patients with mental and behavioural disorder who consume alcohol to the usage of mental health care services throughout their life. Methodology: a retrospective medical documentation analysis was performed. According to the TLK-10- AM diagnoses the subjects were divided into two groups: test group – patients with mental and behavioural disorders who consume alcohol; and comparison group – patients with mood (affect) and neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders. The data of these two groups were compared. The data analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 and Excel 2016. Results: The average age of 471 patients with mental and behavioural disorder who consume alcohol was determined and is 41.37 years. The number of men in the test group was significantly higher (69.6%), whereas the comparison group contained a significantly higher number of women (64.0%). It was determined that patients of the test group tried to or considered to commit suicide significantly less often than the patients in the comparison group (64.2% vs. 81.3%; p<0.001).
