الوصف: Forty-four bladder specimens surgically removed, 28 obvious cancer and 16 tissues free of cancer as control, were submitted to quantitative study of LDH, LDH isoenzymes and alkaline phosphatase; and they were investigated as to stage (Jewett) and grade (Broders). The following results were obtained. 1) The bladder cancer tissues showed high LDH activity, which increased with advance of stage but was low contrally in the undifferentiated carcinomas. 2) High percentage of LDH-V was proved in the cancer tissues as compared with the control, but there was no correlation with stage and grade. LDH-IV showed a similar tendency with LDH-V, and its ratio was higher in the undifferentiated carcinomas than in the differentiated. LDH-III showed lower percentage in the cancer tissues than in the control, and there was no correlation with stage and grade. LDH-II showed no difference as to presence of cancer or stage and grade. LDH-I in the cancer tissues was lower than in the control and decreased with advance of histological malignancy. 3) Alkaline phosphatase showed no difference between cancer and the control or among the various stages and grades.

الوصف: Histochemical changes of lactic dehydrogenase activity according to aging were studied on the seminal vesicles of guinea pigs. The effect on lactic dehydrogenase activity of androgen injections, estrogen injections, castration, castration followed by androgen injections, and castration followed by estrogen injections were studied in the seminal vesicles of immature and mature gt]'inea pigs. The relation between lactic dehydrogenase activity of the seminal vesicle and size of the testes was studied in some of the human materials. Acid and alkaline phosphatase of the seminal vesicles of guinea pig and man were stained, and the distribution of lactic dehydrogenase was compared with those of acid and alkaline phosphatase. The results are summarized as follows. 1) Positive correlation was found between lactic dehydrogenase activity of the seminal vesicle epithelium and androgen activity in guinea pig. 2) Positive correlation was found between size of testis and lactic dehydrogenase of the human seminal vesicle epithelium. 3) On estrogen administration, lactic dehydrogenase of the seminal vesicles was markedly decreased in guinea pig. 4) The distribution of lactic dehydrogenase in the human seminal vesicle was similar to that of guinea pig, but the distribution of acid and alkaline phosphatase in the former differed from those of the latter.

الوصف: From the purpose of inducing renal tumors Wistar strain rats were fed on CE-2 powder food supplied by "Nihon Clea" containing 10% of lead acetate. Ren8.1 and serum activities of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), alkaline phosphatase (AlP), leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) and total acid phosphatase (TAP) and LDH isozymes were determined for the subsequent 12 months period. The results are summarized as follows. 1. No significant difference on LDH activities in serum and the kidney tissue was demonstrated between experimental group and controls. 2. LDH isozyme pattern of the kidney tissue showed higher values of M type and the fraction III and lower value of H type in the experimental group than that in the controls. In the serum, however, the experimental group showed lower M type and the fraction III and slightly higher H type than that in the controls. 3. AlP activity of the kidney tissue was definitely lower in the experimental group than in the controls. Serum AQP activity was also slightly lower in the experimental group than controls. 4. LAP activity of the kidney tissue in the experimental group definitely showed a decrease in accordance with the extension of the experimentai period. However, no significant difference of serum LAP activity was demonstrated between the experimental group and controls. 5. A slightly high TAP activity was found in the kidney tissue of the experimental group, but no difference in the serum was demonstrated between the two groups on TAP activity.

الوصف: A local injection of 20-methylcholanthrene (20 MC) was performed into the dorsolateral lobe of the prostatic gland of male Wistar strain rats, weighed about 100 g. Such treated rats were divided into 4 groups and were combinedly given none or subcutaneous injection of either one of estradiol benzoate (Eb), testosterone propionate (TP) or thyriod powder (Thy). Rats given neither 20 MC nor hormones reserved as the control. The prostatic and serum LDH activity, LDH isozyme and ALP activity were determined along with the lapse of time for a period of 11 months. The results obtained are summarized as follows. (1) The LDH activity of the prostatic tissue sho w ed a tendency of increase with advancing of age. It slightly decreased in the rats given 20 MC only and 20 MC with Eb, while it slightly increased in the rats given 20 MC with Tp and 20 MC with Thy. The serum LDH activity, however, showed a tendency of increase in control group as far as the value obtained 11 months after the start of the experiment was concerned. It also showed an increase in the 20 MC simple-treated group and a decrease in the groups given 20 MC combined with TP or Eb. (2) The LDH isozyme pattern of the prostatic tissue showed a decrease of M-type and an increase of H-type with advancing of age. Increase of M-type was observed in the 20 MC simple-treated and 20 MC with Tp treated groups, but decrease of M-type was seen in the 20 MC with Eb treated group. The serum LDH isozyme also showed ageing changes characterized by an increase of M-type and decreases of H-type and III-component. In rats given 20 MC with Thy M-type was higher than the others in general. (3) The ALP activity of the prostatic tissue w as not affected with ageing. It slightly decreased in the group 20 MC with Eb, but no noticeable change was observed in both of groups given 20 MC along with Tp or Thy. The serum ALP activity showed an increase in the 20 MC simple-treated group and a decrease in both of the groups given with combination of Eb or Tp.

الوصف: Determination of LDH, LDH isozymes, AlP, LAP, TAP and PAP was attempted on the seminal fluids collected from patients with sterility who visited the out-patient clinic of the Department Urology of Hiroshima University Hospital and was confirmed to be free from endocrine disorders, gonadal dysfunction and passage disturbance of seminal tract. The LDH activity was found to be low in the aspermic group (A-gro u p) compared to in the normospermic (N-group) or oligospermic (0-group) groups. The percent distribution of LDH isozymes showed higher M-type in A-group than in N- and 0-groups. The AlP activity was not definitely correlated to the number o f spermatozoa. The LAP showed higher activity in A-group than in N- and 0-gro u ps. The TAP and PAP activities demonstrated low values in A- g roup compared to that in Nand 0-groups. P o sitive correlation was found between activities of LDH and TAP. All of the above enzyme activities showed no definite correlatio n s with amount of seminal fluid.

الوصف: In order to induce renal tumors, Wistar strain rats were given special food containing 500 ppm of dimsthylnitrosamins for 2 wesks. Renal and serum activities of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), alkaline phosphatase (AlP), leucine aminopeptidase (LAP), total acid phosphatase (TAP) and LDH isozymes were determined successively. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Both of serum and renal LDH activities markedly increased after the 7th month of the experimental period. At the same time the LDH isozymes pattern showed increases of M type and the fraction III with a decrease of H type. 2. Both of serum and renal AQP activities slightly decreased during the latter half of the experimental period. 3. LAP activity slightly decreased in the kidney and increased in serum along with the elapse of time. 4. TAP activity showed no definite trend both in the kidney and in serum.
