الوصف: Nowadays energy demand is an issue regarding the vitality of cities and the welfare of citizens. The exponential growth of the cities and the consumers' demand obliged the energy producer to find a modern solution to overcome these problems. The solution was found in decentralised structures all connected through the Internet and capable of allowing all actors in the system to interact together. In this study, the effect on the smart grid's energy demand of different numbers of consumers, their behaviour and the energy price variations will be discussed. A few consumers' behaviours will be illustrated and taken into account, how they react to the energy provider's price schemes, impelling them into making a decision on whether to shift or not their demand according to their characteristic parameters and show how their expenditures and incomes for the electricity market operator change.

الوصف: The gut microbiota may have an impact on obesity. To date, the majority of studies in obese patients reported microbiota composition in stool samples. The aim of this study was to investigate the duodenal mucosa dysbiosis in adult obese individuals from Campania, a region in Italy with a very high percentage of obese people, to highlight microbial taxa likely associated with obesity. Duodenum biopsies were taken during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in 19 obese (OB) and 16 lean control subjects (CO) and microbiome studied by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Duodenal microbiome in our groups consisted of six phyla: Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Fusobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Acidobacteria. Proteobacteria (51.1% vs. 40.1%) and Firmicutes (33.6% vs. 44.9%) were significantly (p < 0.05) more and less abundant in OB compared with CO, respectively. Oribacterium asaccharolyticum, Atopobium parvulum and Fusobacterium nucleatum were reduced (p < 0.01) and Pseudomonadales were increased (p < 0.05) in OB compared with CO. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed Atopobium and Oribacterium genera able to discriminate with accuracy (power = 75% and 78%, respectively) OB from CO. In conclusion, increased Proteobacteria and decreased Firmicutes (Lachnospiraceae) characterized the duodenal microbiome of obese subjects. These data direct to further studies to evaluate the functional role of the dysbiotic-obese-associated signature. © 2020 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.

الوصف: Obesity is a multifactorial disorder, and the gut microbiome has been suggested to contribute to its onset. In order to better clarify the role of the microbiome in obesity, we evaluated the metatranscriptome in duodenal biopsies from a cohort of 23 adult severely obese and lean control subjects using next generation sequencing. Our aim was to provide a general picture of the duodenal metatranscriptome associated with severe obesity. We found altered expressions of human and microbial genes in the obese compared to lean subjects, with most of the gene alterations being present in the carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolic pathways. Defects were also present in several human genes involved in epithelial intestinal cells differentiation and function, as well as in the immunity/inflammation pathways. Moreover, the microbial taxa abundance inferred by our transcriptomic data differed in part from the data that we previously evaluated by 16S rRNA in 13/23 individuals of our cohort, particularly concerning the Firmicutes and Proteobacteria phyla abundances. In conclusion, our pilot study provides the first taxonomic and functional characterization of duodenal microbiota in severely obese subjects and lean controls. Our findings suggest that duodenal microbiome and human genes both play a role in deregulating metabolic pathways, likely affecting energy metabolism and thus contributing to the obese phenotype. © 2020 by the authors. الوصف: In the article we analyze marketing product lever in the luxury goods sector; vital element in the choice of a non-sectorial and specialist development outlook wich compare vaviables such as quality, price and customer approach. In such a period where excessive specialization tends to prevail in many fields, the key to success lies in reasoning in counter-trend. Hence , after enunciating the so-called “anti-laws” in the marketing of luxury goods an identifying the proper and direct features of a luxury goods, we examine the “brand” feature by referring to brand extension an co-branding phenomena and broaden this analysis to other proper and direct features of a luxury good. The aspect that most differentiates the luxury product from all others is its strong relationship with the "dream". The luxury product, did not respond to a need or a want but at a "dream".

الوصف: Purpose: The paper explores whether consumers' environmentally sustainable attitudes and behaviors (e.g. saving water, energy, etc.) are associated with high frequency of local food purchases. The study uses a large sample of individual data collected across all Italian regions as well as accounts for the respondents' socioeconomic characteristics. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis uses a large sample of individual-level data (n = 21,081) collected by the Italian National Bureau of Statistics in the annual Italian Multipurpose Households Survey (MHS). Data contain individual information on the frequency of local food purchases as well as socioeconomic characteristics and environmentally friendly attitudes and behaviors. Data were analyzed using a multivariate ordered logit regression. Findings: Results indicate that individuals sensitive to environmental issues and adopting sustainable behaviors are more likely to purchase local food products than others. Also, age, education and occupational status positively are associated with a high frequency of local food purchases. Reading food nutrition labels, living in small communities as well as buying organic products are strong predictors of a higher frequency of local food choices. Originality/value: The role of individual sustainable attitudes and behaviors in local food purchases has been marginally investigated in the literature. We addressed the issue by jointly accounting for several individual-related characteristics potentially shaping such relation. To the best of authors’ knowledge, the authors use the largest sample ever used to explore the individual's local food purchases in Italy.

الوصف: More than 25 years after the 1991 reform of the Union for the Protection of New Plant Varieties (UPOV) treaty, the regulation of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) is still controversial. While the incentives to private innovations are unquestionable, concerns have been raised about farmers’ access to resources, the weakening of their bargaining power, their entrepreneurial freedom, and ultimately their welfare. Our paper investigates the effect of PVP regulation on the governance of agri-food value chains (AFVC) with a small-scale survey of kiwi producers in Italy. We found that AFVC trading-protected (club) plant varieties are more likely to exhibit captive governance forms than those trading the free varieties. Nevertheless, the producers of club kiwis achieve higher returns from their investments and bear less risk than others. Because of the high demand for the club fruits, the breeders must give farmers highly profitable contract terms in order to elicit the production and to promote the adoption of the new cultivar. As a consequence, farmers are capturing a share of the value of innovation, even if the breeders have a strong protection. The long-run sustainability of this win-win agreement between breeders and farmers might be jeopardized should the demand for the new varieties fall.

الوصف: Hybrid vehicles are one of the most important choices to improve efficiency and reduce CO2 production of vehicles. Benefits in using hybrid powertrains are generally found in urban environment where lower average speeds, higher accelerations make the internal combustion engine run at lower efficiency points. The originality of the present paper consists in the data elaboration and analysis collected in a measurement campaign on road in real driving conditions, on an ad hoc path planned according to the average national daily mileage in metropolitan urban context, which thus acquires a significance generalizable in that specific context, which led to the consumption quantification and an analysis of the main factors that determine the reduction in consumption of full-hybrid vs conventional vehicles. Another important and original aspect of this paper is the analysis of the operating times in ZEV mode of hybrid vehicles, which shows how this solution leads to a significant reduction of pollutant emissions in urban contest. An on-road experimental campaign has been done by comparing two different versions of the same model (Toyota Yaris Hybrid and a conventional one, Toyota Yaris 1.5 gasoline) and a hybrid vehicle with different characteristics (the hybrid born - Toyota Prius), like size, traction battery capacity, generator/motor electric power. Thirty drivers on a fixed path have done this experimental campaign and in this paper, the results are reported. The results show that a strong influence on consumption is due not only to the type of vehicle, but also to driving style and speed. The comparison between the two versions of Yaris, shows a strong reduction in consumption using hybrid vehicle for low and medium speeds (for 20 km/h about 50%), such benefit decreases with the increasing speed and for values higher than 90 km/h both the vehicles have the same consumption. The reduced consumption of the hybrid vehicle at low speeds is due, on the one hand, to the greater efficiency of the hybrid vehicle engine ...

الوصف: The velocity field of a propeller jet induced by two different propellers has been investigated using the PIV technique in a still water basin with fixed bed. The main novelty is represented by the presence of a stern of an inland vessel model. The angles and distances of jet impact and maximum bed velocity have been evaluated from the measured instantaneous velocity fields. Time averaged velocities of the horizontal component, V , have been determined at different distances from the propeller plane. The velocities especially close to the bottom are higher for the Kaplan propeller than for the Wageningen propeller. The results have been compared with existing empirical formulas. Differences between calculated and measured values systematically depended on the considered combination of propeller, rudder, and ship. These results reflect the empirical character of the equations and highlight not considered parameters.

They have joined to search 800 (57,1%). Through the univariate analy-sis it has been found that the champion has a good knowledge on the modalities of transmission of the HIV, and is aware of the importance of the use of the protective one as the main instrument, although that de-clares to use it always only the 44,2%, (43,4% men vs 45% women; p=0,008). It has had relationships the 84,8% of the champion, solo the 23,4% has declared of to have had occasional relationships (20,9% women vs 38,5% men; p=0,0001); 9% report of to have had relationships homosexuals. The logistic regression has allowed to identify the determining ones of the behaviors to risk: males OR=1.2 (1.1-1.8 C.I. 95%); first re-lationship under 12 years OR=14.8 (2.2-35.29 C.I. 95%); alcohol use OR=4,6 (2.4-6.8 C.I. 95%). The uni-versity students understimate the risk to contract the infection from HIV between heterosexul, and the risk perceived to level characterizes sufficiently is not elevated them in spite of the good acquaintance.
