الوصف: IMSP Institutul Mamei şi Copilului ; Background. There is a significant list of bacteria and viruses associated with the pathologies, the major clinical manifestation of which is the bronchial obstruction syndrome. Some studies suggest that some of these pathogens, particularly the atypical bacteria Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) and Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae), are strongly related to the development of bronchial obstruction syndrome and the exacerbation of bronchial asthma in both children and adults. Most research studies suggest that the highest rate of infections with M. pneumoniae and C. pneumoniae is recorded in school-aged children and young adults. There are also scientific articles that confirm that these infections may also occur in children under 5 years of age. Purpose of the study. The determination of the rate (frequency) and the estimation of clinically-evolutive peculiarities of broncho-obstructive diseases in children infected with C. pneumoniae and M. pneumoniae in the group of patients under 5 years of age with acute infections of the lower respiratory tract. Material and methods. Materials and methods. The prospective-type study involved 150 children, aged between 3 months and 5 years, admitted to the Pneumology Clinic of PMSI IMC. The criteria of eligibility were the presence of bronchial obstruction syndrome and an age of under 5 years. The current episode of bronchial obstruction has been thoroughly analyzed using the specially developed questionnaire, the medical paperwork, and also by performing the complex medical examination of the children. The detection of the pathogens studied was performed by using two parallel methods to ensure a higher quality of the study. Detection of bacterial DNA from the nasopharyngeal exudate was assessed by chain polymerization reaction method (CPR), and the assessment of IgA, IgM and IgG specific antibodies in the patient’s serum samples was performed using the Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA). The data collected in the study ...
