| الوصف: | Alagoas emerges as one of the main sugarcane producers in the country. In its context, the mechanization of the sugarcane production processes and, more specifically, the harvesting process has not occurred in the same way as in the main producing regions. We have the joint existence of the "archaic" and the "modern" inside the sugarcane fields of Alagoas. Given this contradictory relation between the "archaic" and the "modern", the present text aims to investigate how this "modern" is developed in a specific productive unit of the state. Thus, the following question is: how does the mechanization of sugar cane harvesting develop in a productive unit of the state of Alagoas? For conducting the research it is opted for the qualitative approach, having the collection of information through the practices of observation, interview, and documental analysis. The discussions in this text made it possible to visualize, even in a production context marked by the low technological incorporation, the existence of an "island" of modernity in the sugarcane fields of the state. ; Alagoas desponta como um dos principais produtores do país de cana-de-açúcar. No contexto alagoano, a mecanização dos processos de produção canavieira e, mais especificamente, o processo de colheita não têm ocorrido nos mesmos moldes das principais regiões produtoras. Tem-se a existência do “arcaico e moderno” caminhando juntos dentro dos canaviais alagoanos. Diante desta relação contraditória do “arcaico” e “moderno” o presente texto se propõe a investigar como esse “moderno” se desenvolve em uma determinada unidade produtiva do estado. Sendo assim coloca-se como problema o seguinte questionamento: Como se desenvolve a mecanização da colheita de cana-de-açúcar em uma unidade produtiva do estado de Alagoas? Para a realização da investigação optou-se pela abordagem qualitativa, tendo a coleta das informações mediante as práticas de observação, entrevista e análise documental.
