A descriptive,cross-sectional and analytic research was conducted in 50 patients at “Antonio Briones Montoto” Dentist Teaching Outpatient Clinic between January and March 2005, aimed at describing the behaviour of tooth wear, taking into account some chosen variables. Oral-clinical examination was performed and data were grouped in dental charts showing the worn surfaces. A survey was used as complement to make possible the association of tooth wear with masticatory, hygienic and dietary habits. Concluding that the most frequent non-carious lesion was in gingival third, being premolar group the most affected. Severe tooth wear was found in patients who consumed citric juices and fruit more than twice a day. ; Se realizó un estudio descriptivo-transversal y analítico en 50 pacientes de la Clínica Estomatológica “Antonio Briones Montoto”, entre enero-marzo del 2005, con el propósito de describir el comportamiento del desgaste dentario según variables seleccionadas. Se realizó el examen clínico bucal y se agruparon los datos en dentigramas, donde se representaron las superficies desgastadas. Se realizó una encuesta que sirvió de complemento al posibilitar la asociación del desgaste dentario con hábitos masticatorios, higiénicos y dietéticos. Se obtuvo que la lesión no cariosa más frecuentemente fue en el tercio gingival, el grupo dentario más afectado fue el de los premolares. . Se encontró elevado desgaste en pacientes que consumían jugos y frutas cítricas más de dos veces diarias. |
