| الوصف: | Appreciation of the past requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the history of life. People continuously search for evidence from the past which facilitates the studies related to natural history. During the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, especially economically developed countries pioneered the establishment of their natural history museums. Despite the unprecedented historical and cultural heritage, and rich flora and fauna Anatolia is well-known worldwide, the natural history museums inTurkey fell far behind those in developed countries in terms of both quantity and quality. Besides the educational effects natural history museums have on the societies, they also have a significant role in providing material and literature to the researchers. Among the prominent aims of the natural history museums are to do research and provide education in the field of natural history, to exhibit natural finds through real objects and contemporary examples, and instil affection towards nature in large masses of people and students of all grade levels. Natural history museums, in line with these aims, have an important role in carrying societies further by their educational, infusing, and civilizing powers ; Geçmişimizi kavrayabilmek için yaşam tarihimizi çok iyi bilmek ve değer vermek gerekmektedir. Doğa tarihi ile ilgili çalışmaların sürekli artması insanların geçmişlerine ait kanıtları araştırmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. 19. yüzyıl süresince ve 20. yüzyıl başlarında özellikle ekonomik olarak güçlü ülkeler doğa tarihi müzelerinin kuruluşunda öncülük etmişlerdir. Ancak, Anadolu tarihsel ve kültürel açıdan son derece zengin olmasına ve kendine özel fauna ve florasıyla dünyada bilinmesine karşın, Türkiye’de doğa tarihi müzeleri nitelik ve nicelikleri açısından gelişmiş ülkelerin gerisinde kaldığı görülmektedir.
