الوصف: | Beliefs about emotion (emotion beliefs) can motivate individuals to regulate emotional experience. Studies have linked beliefs about emotion’s controllability (Becerra et al., 2020; Tamir & Mauss, 2011), usefulness (Karnaze & Levine, 2018; Luong et al., 2016) and acceptability to self and social partners with the deployment of various emotion regulation (ER) strategies and with well-being outcomes. Furthermore, emotions take on meaning within cultural contexts, where experiences are evaluated (Cheung et al., 2015), suggesting that the interplay between culture and emotion contributes to the explanation of how and why motivations for ER may differ. Therefore, this study aims to investigate individuals’ use of ER and its effect on affective change in everyday life using a daily diary method.
