الوصف: | Background: Congenital heart defects are structural abnormalities that occur in the heart and/or major blood vessels in newborns. In congenital heart surgery, procedures can be performed using a cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machine. While CPB helps surgeons in completing surgical procedures, it has negative effects, one of which can trigger acute inflammatory responses. Methods: This study is a retrospective research based on secondary data from medical records of acyanotic congenital heart surgery patients at Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya from 2018 to 2022. The sample for this study includes patients aged 1 month to 18 years with acyanotic congenital heart defects who underwent heart repair procedures at Dr. Soetomo Hospital. Results: The study involved 156 research subjects, children with Acyanotic Congenital Heart Defects (ACHD) who underwent repair surgery at Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. The Mann-Whitney test analysis showed a significant difference with a P-value of 0.000 (0 < 0.05) between the increased neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in patients who experienced mortality and those who did not. The average increase in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in subjects without mortality was 5.44. The increase in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio also had a significant relationship with CPB time, AOX time, CPB temperature, extubation, and ICU length of stay. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the increase in neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and mortality in the post-operative period of acyanotic congenital heart surgery patients. |
