الوصف: 1996 ; Purchased for the Camosun College Art Collection by the Camosun College Cultural Enhancement Committee directly from artist. ; Yuri Doric is an alumnus of the Camosun College Visual Arts Program (graduated 1990) who has worked in a variety of media including painting, collage, photography, and graphic design. Doric attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design (now Emily Carr University) from 1990 – 1991, leaving his studies to pursue painting full-time. He has participated in a variety of exhibitions in Victoria, BC ("Visible Evidence", 1992; "Sacred and Profane", 1993); and Port Angeles, WA ("Straight Art III: The Canadian Waters", 1993); as well as in Canberra, Australia ("cut.paste", 2009). In 2014 Doric self-published a book presenting a selection of his collages entitled “Resting" (ISBN: 978-1-41201-141-9). DESCRIPTION: Square collage consisting of various paper items (bar code, yellow and orange tickets, refresh[ment] ticket, hand-written note) mounted on an 8 x 10” black paper square. Central to the image is a piece of paper with a printed pot of gold and top of rainbow. The yellow and orange tickets have been torn, leaving the word “One” visible on each piece of paper (perhaps the remaining text of “Admit One”). Text in the hand-written portion of the collage reads: “double __e one extra can__ every room has ___ beds.” ARTIST STATEMENT: Doric describes his artistic practice and career trajectory: “[I] began making collages because they were more convenient than large-scale oil painting and I had began accumulating miscellaneous detritus.
