الوصف: The concept of sustainability was first included in the report called "Our Common Future" published by the World Environment and Development Commission in the United Nations in 1987. The concept of sustainability can be explained as always existing, staying in the future, continuing its existence. FAO has defined sustainable nutrition as respecting and protecting biodiversity and ecosystems, culturally accepted, accessible, nutritionally adequate, safe and healthy, as well as optimizing human and natural resources. In order to ensure sustainable nutrition and protect global health, world resources should be used carefully, and it is focused on researching and changing the food choices and nutrition models of societies in order to reduce food losses and waste. The Mediterranean diet, which is considered a healthy eating model and a healthy lifestyle, is more than just food, it is also a potential sustainable nutrition model. Due to the fact that the Mediterranean diet model contains a high percentage of plant foods, the diet model's low ecological, carbon and water footprint has been focused on its usability as a sustainable nutrition model in recent years. In this review, the contribution of the Mediterranean diet model to health and nutrition, environmental, sociocultural and economic sustainability is emphasized, and it is aimed to discuss its suitability for sustainable nutrition by evaluating the studies related to this. ; Sürdürülebilirlik kavramına ilk olarak Birleşmiş Milletler içerisinde olan Dünya Çevre ve Kalkınma Komisyonu tarafından 1987 yılında yayımlanan ‘Ortak Geleceğimiz’ adlı raporda yer verilmiştir. Sürdürülebilirlik kavramı, her daim var olma, geleceğe kalabilme, varlığını devam ettirme olarak açıklanabilir. FAO sürdürülebilir beslenmeyi insan ve doğal kaynakları optimize etmesi yanında, biyo-çeşitliliğe ve ekosisteme saygılı ve koruyucu, kültürel olarak kabul görülen, ulaşılabilir, beslenme açısından yeterli, güvenilir ve sağlıklı şeklinde tanımlamıştır. ...
