- This study focuses on the six large energy resource countries of the Middle East: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The objectives are to detail their announced oil and gas development plans, to describe the major trends occuring in these countries, to outline governments' responses to the trends and to analyse the impact of government policies on oil and gas development.
