الملخص:"In A Crash Course on Crises, Markus Brunnermeier and Ricardo Reis assert that the major economic crises of the past twenty years have been predominantly "macro-financial" crises-crises rooted in the intersection of the whole economy and the financial sector. Recent recessions in the United States, for example, started with shocks to domestic financial markets, while crises in emerging markets typically were due to sudden stops of financial flows and changes in the financial investments of governments. Economists have developed new concepts and tools to understand these crises, but Brunnermeier and Reis write that these ideas have not yet made their way into textbooks and classroom discussions. This book introduces and explains these concepts to show policymakers and students how the relevant models work, how they can be applied, and how they fit together. Each section of the book introduces one important concept at the intersection of macroeconomics and finance, illustrated by one novel graph, and then applies it to an example global crisis. The ideas under analysis include the misallocation of capital inflows, modern and shadow banks, strategic complementarities and amplification, debt contracts and the distinction between solvency and liquidity, the diabolic loop, regional flights to safety, and unconventional monetary policy"--
